I did not find the roof drainage on the roof, how does it work?

    There is a waterproof membrane underneath the green roof that carries all the water to the low end of the roof, where we have a concealed gutter (where the strip of small stones are in this photo) that drains to gutters

    Wow. Does the greenery also offer a degree of insulation? Scientifically - the plants would absorb most of the heat.

    Re: insulation. Yes! Green roofs are being used in cities to reduce 'urban heat island effect' and the floor under green roofs can be 15 degrees cooler than a traditionally roofed building. It retains water, and through evapotranspiration reduces the temperature. It also helps to keep the heat in! There are a ton of benefits to a green roof...

    Green roofs require some coordination between consultants -- in this case, Berger Partnership did the landscape and green roof design, working with the manufacturer of the components as well as the contractor (Ravenhill Construction) -- but generally, we would recommend you find a landscape architecture firm in your area that has done green roofs. They may have some suggestions for contractors they've successfully worked with on previous projects.
