Trendy/timeless? - white perimeter cabs/dark island w contrast counter

10 years from now, will we all be looking back at contrasting counters (black on white and white on dark) and thinking, that's so 2010s.
pic of my kitchen design attached. definitely going with white perimeter cabinets and a dark cherry island, but having a real internal debate about countertops (and by extension backsplash).
Option 1 : honed absolute black granite or dark grey quartz (silestone marengo or similar... probably samsung radianz ural grey as it is darker) on perimeter cabinets, silestone lagoon on island. 2x9 brick pattern carrera marble backsplash
Option 2: silestone lagoon throughout. 3x6 beveled white subway tile backsplash
other details: door style is frameless shaker flat panel. contemporary fixtures (grohe k7 midsize, stainless hard angle undermount sink, jenn air euro-style appliances including "integrated" refrigerator)
