My husband was in real estate in the area and since it's a second/vacation home market in a tiny town, sales have been really slow (3 in the last year, one a cheap ski rental and 2 were land alone). So we may have to keep it for a while. At this point I'm just wondering what would generally appeal to anyone looking for a new home. Dark or light wood floors, carpeted or wood floors in the bedrooms, wood or painted kitchen cabinets. I guess you could say I would like to know what's "trending".

White oak floors ( bleached, even) throughout, with lower contrast cabinets ( stain vs. wood will not matter so much). Area rugs can be added by buyers, but radiant flooring is a plus.

I agree w/ any energy upgrades, including radiant floors. As much natural light as possible, open floor plans with rooms that have versatility for multi family use, like jack n jill bathroom. When people vacation they are in common rooms (games/tv/fireplace) or outdoors so sleeping rooms do not have to be tremendously large but should be flex enough to accommodate 2-3 sleeping persons. A mudroom off garage for outdoor wear and hanging storage for ski gear w/ extra space for snowmobile if relevant. Hardwood floors will take a beating from gear moved in and out, slate or tile might wear better. Kitchen that can handle large family/group meals w/ different seating areas, specific dining room is not necessary. Anything that make the home easy and cost efficient to maintain and access so that it can be seen as an income property as well.

We go up to the mountains a lot in colorado and I love the rustic/lodge look in the mountains. I think dark wood floors with slate would be nice. Or for durability j like the tiles that look like wood.
