Quartz would be the other viable option.

Quartz is amazing it is non porous and does not stain easily. Butcher block is also a great choice easy to keep clean and you can sit hot pans on it if you are baking something.

Quartz is always an excellent choice for durability depending on your budget. And Cambria brand is the only quartz manufactured in the USA so you are also supporting American jobs by purchasing that brand. Natural stone/granite does not meet the government standards for use in a food prep area so I generally don't recommend granite tops for a kitchen. Butcher block is also a very sanitary surface, not promoting bacterial growth, and usually less expensive than quartz. Both good choices.

Can you put butcher block on island that has cooktop? I thought wood will be ruined if you placed hot pan on top??
