The gold wall color is clashing with the cabinet color. Your cabinets have red undertones. Your wall color has yellow undertones. The perfect wall color will coordinate with all your decor items - your cabinets, your new valance, and the colors in the rest of your home. the styles of the valances are a little dated. I would totally remove and maybe do some kind of box valance if you want a valance. I would redo the yellow paint with a complimentary color.
