It is a beautiful hand painted porcelain chandelier with Austrian crystal and authentic milk glass shades. No idea it's value, but it just doesn't suit the decor of our new home.

Wow, let it be a statement piece. Or a foyer or dinning table, or kitchen. Or bathroom, your bedroom or hallway.

It's already been removed from its original home. Twice. It was a gift to my great Aunt then left to me. I took it from our last house bit now it doesn't work with my new decor. Just can't 'toss' it away. What to do - what to do?

Well...that being said, is there another family member who has ever loved it? I'm sure it would be fine to pass through the family.

But...if no one else seems to want to have it for the next 20 years, pack it up like I'd mentioned until the next generation of homeowners begins to leave the roost in the family...there might be a niece down the road who would love it as a housewarming gift if they'd seen it through the years.

All of my cousins are 15 to 20 years younger than me, and they really cherish the things that were my grandmother's regardless of their own personal space or style. I was surprised, but maybe - because they didn't get to know her well - it meant a lot to them to hold onto something that was dear to her. I agree with bungalowmo above - if you really cant find a place for it, I'd pack it carefully and let it store. It's such a beautiful piece, I don't think it has to relate to the style of the house or your other furnishings - it will stand out like a jewel and bring a bit of a eclectic flair.Often its the items that contrast that bring out the hidden beauty of what's around them. I'd also suggest looking for a spot to hang it that is unexpected - hang it low next to the bed, think about it if you have a large master bath, place it somewhere on a whim and see how you feel.

Oh, I hate to think of it packed away in a box for twenty years! I am all for taking it to an antique store or consignment store. There it will be purchased by someone who truly loves it.
