Which do you recommend hardsurface or quartz..don't want to do granites ce I have small kids

    Granite is extremely easy to care for and washes up with soap and water. It can be a great option for families with kids. I think you may be thinking of marble, which is prone to etching.

    Granite is a wonderful choice as is Quartz. The main difference is that quartz is non-porus so it does not need to be sealed the way granite does. Regardless of which hard surface you choose, always use a trivet/hot pad/cutting board to really protect the counter.

    I agree with the above comments. I just want to add the look of granite and the look of quartz are so different. Quartz is going to give you a generally more uniform color and pattern. Granite has the natural beauty in variation. Really depends on the style of the area.

    Quartz can look just like stone if you choose the right comp. for quartz I happen to like Cambria
