Foundation Landscaping, Zone 6 Connecticut

Kim O'Brien
April 24, 2019
We are redoing the landscaping in the front of the house. The only thing staying is a weeping Japanese maple (burgundy color) that is in the bed to the right of the house.

We are thinking six orb green velvet boxwoods, three on each side of the front door. But we are open to ideas.

I live in coastal Connecticut: boxwoods will look great and perform well. I think they’re a good start but you could add a whole lot more given the size of both your house and yard! Hope there are a few other interesting plants in your future. Beautiful house!

    Is this a 2-dimensional space?

Tony, I'm not sure what you mean.

It seems like a nice house with a good yard so is there any reason why the planting should be lined up against the house as in 'foundation planting?'

I like how Dig Doug expanded the flowerbed.

I 100% agree with expanding the beds, especially since the yard is so large and can easily accommodate more. I haven't been able to convince my sister, the homeowner, to do it. So, for now, we are working with the existing structure.
