Menards kitchen designer

Looking for recommendations for a good kitchen designer at any Menards across the country. I don’t live near one- so it will all be handled they email and phone call anyways.

We have a Menard's 8 miles from us. While we have purchased quite a lot from there, I don't believe you will find one that has a "good" kitchen designer. Some will be nicer than others, some will have more experience, but if any are actually "good", they wouldn't be at Menard's...or Home Depot...or Lowe's, or probably even at a local lumberyard.

My husband and I are renovating our 3rd house. I just priced a countertop through Menard's (for reference), and the whole experience was downright painful. The young girl didn't even know what "scribing" a wall was, and was not the least bit interested in learning!

She could push the buttons on the computer, but did not have a clue about kitchens, or cabinets, or anything. When I asked for greater detail or information, well, she "would have to do that over", and that "would just be too hard". I think this is the new reality, not the exception.

Not sure what your budget is, but I would not trust a big box hourly employee even in person, let alone by email and phone!

A cabinet sales person is not a KD they can only plan what is on their system . Get a proper KD whon works for you not a cabinet company.BTW you do not design a kitchen by e-mail

Couldn’t figure how to edit my first post.

I already have the design and dimensions from meeting with a kitchen designer. Their pricing and 11 week timeline was outside of our needs.

Well, that changes things - but only a little. Again, there is just too much room for error by phone or email.

Menard's has very strict return policies with any special order, and I'm afraid you would be on the hook for any errors in measurements, or even concealed damages (once the product leaves the store). If distance is a problem for ordering, it will be an even greater issue during installation!

What resources do you have close to you? Any kind of cabinet maker at all?

I was briefly considering one of the styles they carry for our laundry room, but even with a simple layout and computer estimate, their "computer program is set up" to only give a total - no breakdown at all! (Totally geared towards "minimum payment" type sales!)

I would never do what you are proposing. Even the best cabinet shop makes mistakes in ordering, and even the best cabinet company sometimes also makes mistakes. A good cabinet shop will solve this problem for you very quickly, at no cost to you. You will be totally on your own if you do what you propose.

What is your budget? Size of kitchen?

That’s NOT how any box store purchase works. There isn’t a single one anywhere that will do that. Or any other place that sells cabinets. The “design” has to be translated into the cabinet company capabilities. Cabinets arent commodities that can be ordered like sushi off a menu. Not once you get past the cheapest of the cheapest with only a 3 page spec book. Good cabinets ha e a 300-800 page spec book.
