We did this exact thing to the tub/shower in the guest bath. Over time, however, friends/family admitted they hated not having a glass door. Water splashes out onto the floor. Also, with the hinge, sometimes kids wouldn't get it all the way back and water went over the side of the tub onto the floor, soaking the ceiling of the kitchen below. We eventually put the hinge on the glass and added a door. It's beautiful, but we simply couldn't deal with it in the long term
