A Rock Star and Her Fiance Get a Surprise Makeover
“I wish that I could be like the cool kids,” sings Sydney Sierota on Cool Kids, the 2013 double-platinum-selling single she and her brothers released with their band, Echosmith. She was just 16 at the time. Now, more than five years and many more popular songs later, and with a new Echosmith album in the works, she has ascended beyond cool-kid status to that of enviable globe-trotting rock star.
The 21-year-old recently got engaged to Cameron Quiseng, a former bassist with the pop rock band Allstar Weekend. As an engagement gift, Sydney’s parents, Linda Sierota and Jeffery David, who are also her manager and producer, respectively, decided to surprise their daughter and future son-in-law with a makeover of the one-bedroom apartment that’s attached to their 1920s Spanish Revival house in Pasadena, California. “We thought that this would be a great opportunity to make things a little more friendly to a young married couple,” Linda says.
love it. it is gorgeous
Really a beautiful and thoughtful gift of hospitality and love
I think it’s so nice she still lives with her parents. She’s still very young and it’s nice to see her parents making this gesture to welcome their new son in law and take care of their daughter. Plus I love that song she sings! She has the best voice!
The bookcase added lots of storage without sacrificing floor space- brilliant. Plus the added under bed storage and reorganized closets are insightful solutions without adding furniture to the walls. Agree this is a good example of a redecorated space rather a remodel, but sometimes that’s all the client wants. The colorful chairs at the table are fun and youthful. They draw your eyes more than the light fixture which I prefer. Clever use of clear chair so as to maintain openness yet provide needed chair for desk.
Paint color is Farrow & Ball's Setting Plaster- one of my favorites!
I NEED that glitter paint!!!! Please tell me about it!!!
How do you attach the photos to the wall, for the photo wall?
Hi Dayna - photos to the wall were done using magnetic strip tape and mighty magnets.
Hi Melanie! It's super easy - just add glitter to wet paint - and voila!
Nice project! Love all the details and storage, I also love Echosmith!!!! That was why I had originally clicked on the story.
If I had that place when I was young, I would have lost my mind with the love for it all. A beautiful couple, a beautiful space.
I love the style of all the new elements. The built in bookshelves added definition to the room as well as being really useful. The photo wall was a really unique idea and a quick way to personalize the room to her. For me, I love the barn doors, but the white bi-fold doors look out of place with them.
loved this, practical, lovely and personal, genius!
cool
Well done Lucie! Fun and classy.
It's a nice place, but I feel like they forgot all about the fact that it was supposed to be a space for BOTH of them, not just their daughter.
