I've always found work around the kitchen extremely relaxing (close to a zen moment) when the space is right. Enough room, the right colors, uncluttered. But oh my, a lovely view? Bring on the dishes and play some music.

It's a beautiful world we live in when we have the intention and wherewithal to make even utility rooms things of beauty...even more so to photograph them so perfectly and underscore them with just the right music. Thank you, Houzz TV team; you've outdone yourselves! What a delightful way to start the day.

Love the views - my best 2x would be No 30 of Rhode Island amazing view and 32 with the snow - can almost hear the fire crackling in the background. All of them are unique in their own right. Love the houzz site for inspiration and current trends - Carron - South Africa

Reminds me to clean the windows before winter. It makes all the difference in what ever view is available. It was confirmed that I still can't stand curtains over a sink.

The bigger the windows the better! And I love the one where the windows folded back so it was a totally open space. Question: what was the sink without a window doing in there??? I have one of those popular kitchen plans that are in every newer house now that open onto the family room, so the view from my sink is just another room. I long for a kitchen on a perimeter wall with a huge window area, letting in lots of light. -- I almost always have to turn on a light, even in the middle of the day. So I'm planning on putting in a solar tube. It won't help the view, but at least "let there be light!"

Heres my view both on an overcast day and a recent sunrise. When the sun shines it's even more spectacular! We could have put larger uppers on either side of the windows but I wanted some "white space" to let the outdoors be the focal point of our beautiful new kitchen. We live in a city of about 150,000 in southern Ontario and this gem serves as city life, small town community and cottage all in one package!

Houzz video is not a helpful idea. The photos are poor resolution; one cannot return to a photo of particular interest; one cannot save images to one's personal idea books; it is not possible to efficiently progress through images that are not useful; the music is annoying. Please stick to the format that makes houzz useful to the viewers.

I love seeing all the views! I do wish I could stop each one to look at it more to get some ideas. I don't have a dishwasher so I made sure my view out the window while hand washing dishes for the last 34 years was beautiful. I really enjoyed the video, just wish I could see each view and stop to really see the details.

I always wanted an kitchen sink view from the second floor, but during a remodel when I tried to move the sink to an outside wall, I was told I couldn't because of "stack" issues. So I created my own. I used an "open window frame" template from Zazzle (dot) com and put my own photo behind it. This was photo I took of the view of Diamond Head from our hotel room overlooking Waikiki Beach. Unfortunately, I have since moved downstairs and have a dazzling view of the driveway and the neighbor's house. Now I have to find another spot for my "window." I can't seem to attach the .jpeg photo here.

Love the last one. A kitchen sink with a window over it and especially with a view is one of my top requirements when looking for a new home. We've lived in 10 homes over 30 years of marriage and had some great and not so great views. In Phoenix, we had a great home but a terrible view of a block wall from the kitchen window. Hey, but at least there was a window over the sink. What builder places a kitchen sink with out a window-that's cruel.

I just viewed the slideshow which was fast, and then I read the comments. One said they loved #30, then I went back and watched to see if they were numbered. Then I clicked on "Read the full story" below the slideshow, and there they are, all numbered and nicely described. Love all the white décor with the country flair, farm house sinks, bead board, open shelving, and the little feet fitted on the lower cabinets. That's one of my many projects for my on going design in my farm house kitchen. The next one on my list, is installing a sliding barn door which will open into the sun/T V room. Love Houzz articles, and wonderful photos, esp. the kitchens. Makes my day happy.

When we remodeled this Big Island ocean front home I moved the sink to here, not seen in this picture but just under this bar top - so the person doing dishes could look up to this view of the pool, ocean and palm trees. We used 4 sets of 8' x 12' sliding glass doors at the front of the house to create walls of windows - a cheaper and more practical option than the stunning but expensive folding or stacking glass walls.

Some lovely views! I have loved my kitchen sink windows over the years. This time I have a triple window from the 1920s above my sink. The picture is the left most window. The set up is just like #2 and #12. The wood is light but the light outside makes it look dark.

I didn't want a view from my sink, I wanted it from the island cooktop, where I spend most of my time. Here's the view from my cooktop, taken today. The leaves are just starting to turn. Two sides of the kitchen are all windows:

The pictures chosen for this video didn't really feature the sinks the way it should have done! I also agree with Ellen Izard: Where are the double sinks? I recently updated my kitchen, but I decided against a single one and chose a "Kohler Smart Divided Sink" that offers the advantages of both. As for the view outside... it is mesmerizing, all year round, thanks to the bay windows !

Thank you sstockdale60 for the explanation on how to see the full article. The one I liked best is not #9, it's #10 and it's in England! I also like #26 in Vermont, and the one in Colorado with the snow. For me, this was all about VIEW, not kitchen, and those are the views I would want to see. I have a similar view in my kitchen in the winter and I LOVE it. I could spend all day in there, and frequently do!

In answer to those of you who do not like the slideshow format, may I suggest you simply place your cursor over the pause button and when you see a particular photo you like click on the pause button and enjoy for as long as you wish. When done click again and continue the slide show. As for those of you who want to save the photo, I am not sure, but I think they are copyrighted and they don't want people copying them. I may be wrong on that subject though. I personally enjoyed the slideshow and music. Thank you houzz.

Another way to see all the photos individually (if you are viewing from the HouzzTV page): Click the "Read the full story" link to go to this collection of photos in the usual Houzz article mode. From there you can save photos, comment on them by number, see the available source information, and get links to all the designers. I hope that helps!

So, no turning on the light at night unless you are "decent." What happens in winter if it's cold? Does the view fog up? I like that I could solve my backsplash decision by using glass, but don't care to have to keep it that clean... Sigh. I'm reminding myself to imagine what it will be like in actual use. Traditionally, the sinks would be set a bit higher (for a few reasons).

Greenhouse windows were a fad for a while, but they're hard to keep looking nice.

A nice decorative stained glass hanging in front of the window? or a beautiful mottled mirror, you know the ones with small cut mirrors around the edges that catch light from all directions and that you can't really see yourself in? (so you wouldn't be looking at yourself the whole time you're at the sink!)

When we renovated several years back, replacing our two double-hung multi-paned windows over the kitchen sink with a fixed picture window made a huge difference. The window looks twice as big, though it is in the same space as the old window. Along with our triple French doors, it makes our back deck a focal point of our main living area.

Lovely photos!! Our kitchen window faces out into our backyard and is very large and bright. Although it is not above the sink you can look out into the yard from every angle in the kitchen. That is where we placed our dining table. It was one reason we bought the house. We love to watch the birds feeding and it is relaxing when I am cooking or just hanging out at the kitchen table.

Where is the warm wood feeling counter tops? Amazing kitchens but none with any real natural look.

We have amazing wood counter tops that bring that warm feeling only wood can bring into a home.

These live edge slabs are all salvaged from Central America from a fresh water lake. They have been lost to the world and forgotten for decades. This is something that would add an amazing finished product into any Kitchen.

We feel very blessed to have neighbors next door who have kept their yard in its natural state for over 40 years with lots of trees, birds and squirrels to watch from our kitchen window. When we renovated our kitchen recently, we used a beautiful stained glass window we acquired when we owned an antique store which just happened to be the exact size of our former kitchen window. It is a mixture of stained

and clear beveled glass, so I still have the view through the clear parts, and it also gives us some privacy at the same time. We call it the "Morning Glory Window", and I can still watch the birds and squirrels while working at my cobalt blue Kohler double sink with the low divide. Heavenly!

All of these views are beautiful, but it appears most if not all of these windows lack screens. I love the unobstructed views, but can't abide flies in areas where food is prepared or served. (Although perhaps they've been removed for photographic purposes....) I have no view from my sink, so I created one by adding window boxes outside.

suze55, I agree with the screen issue when windows are open. Our windows don't have screens because we never open them - we are plagued with bugs (flies, mosquitoes, moths, etc...) almost all year long, given that we're so close to the forest. Only 2 of our 8 windows are open-able. For those, I am going to get retractable screens that can be pulled down as needed. Screens block light, and the ones in our house don't keep bugs out, so we have removed them from most of our windows.

Thank you Houzz for this delightful collection! But I confess, it made me cry. For 30 years I have lived with and loved my view over the kitchen sink: ten acres in Northern Illinois; it frames our 1 acre pond where waterfowl visit along with beautiful songbirds. An occasional muskrat, often deer come to swim and drink, even had a mink one cold winter. The songs of calling frogs--the herald of Spring. The changing seasons. . . We are moving soon to a new 44 acre adventure in Central Kentucky--beautiful views but alas, the kitchen sink is on an inside wall, with no window, no view. I shall miss communing with Mother Nature over the kitchen sink so very much! I do hope to find new views and new ways to enjoy the miracles that pass by our windows each and every hour of the days of our lives.

Every one I like is in the Northeast - Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island - more window space, more trees, water view…..clearly I'm in the wrong state. But thankfully, I've got nothing but trees, birds, and the occasional deer family wandering through in my kitchen sink view, so no complaints here!

I loved seeing all the kitchens from the kitchen sink! Awesome range of kitchens -- some people really do live well. Loved them all.

The views are great, but what I noticed is that the great majority of sinks shown were apron/country style. I like them, but wonder if someday they'll seem as dated as avocado green or stainless steel appliances. If only I had room for those paired sinks!

Oh,come on!!!! Those water views are to die for. Our sink window looks out over the woods and I love it but I would give it up in a heart beat for a lake view. When we were designing our vacation cabin the architect had the sink in the island and I nixed that idea right away. Now I have a view of woods there as well. And yes, I'm very fortunate.

I am so blessed to be able to view various exotic fruit trees and herbs of my next door neighbor from my kitchen window. She even shares them with me.

In most of these kitchens which have expansive beautiful windows over the sink area, there a no/few upper cabinets in the immediate vicinity of the dishwasher. I prefer one or two windows over the sink cabinet (36"-42" max) because I want all my dishes and glassware storage right around the dishwasher when I am unloading.

Hi Felizlady - You're right. In fact we have no upper cabinets AT ALL after our reno. It was weird at first but once we got used to storing glasses and dishes in drawers (next to the dishwasher) it's actually easier. I wouldn't trade my windows/view for upper cabinets.
