Houzz TV: See a Man Turn a ’70s Airstream Into a Cool, Happy Home
Jordan Menzel and daughter Penelope touched our hearts last summer when Houzz Contributor Lucy Call profiled Menzel’s inspiring restoration of a 1976 Airstream trailer, a project that got him through some tough life changes. Now see him and his daughter give a tour of the home.

Fantastic 70's remix!
Mitchell keep those Houzz TVs coming ! Another dimension on an already wonderful contribution. The video is all about love for a cute little girl and the home this dad has built. Congratulations and have a happy life.
Inspiring. Another reason to love Houzz. Every kind of home for every kind of homeowner.
For this we need a LOVE button.
dbeil, what's new is the video. Check it out! Houzz TV: Tour the Airstream home
Its outstanding
Terrific
Good...!!
Cool...!!
Thats superb
Great video!
Very nice remodel. I would much prefer the Airstream to renting. Actually he has also made a good investment and should see quite a profit if the time does come to sell. When life deals lemons make lemonade.
And what a great Dad he is! Just loved this.
This has inspired me to do the same with an old airstream that I have access to as well. Thanks for enriching our lives.
It takes special people to live as simply as this young father and his daughter does. Their Adobe is wonderful, even if it might only be for a short time, until the daughter outgrows this precious place.
If this is old, I would love to see what they are doing now. Loved it!
Thank you Jordan. Beautiful job and wonderful story. I love hearing about the people behind the remodels.
Awesome !
tshome, click the video link embedded at the top of the story to see the update on Jordan and his place!
Great story- Looks like Salt Lake suits him and his daughter just fine.
What an inspiring project and story.
Love creative souls!!!
Love what you did with those pallets! Gotta hunch that's gonna catch on...
Great job. We have a poor mans Airstream, a 1977 13 foot Scamp. Every time I see an Airstream my heart skips a beat. We have a solar set up and travel with an Irish Wolfhound and a second smaller dog. Yep, it's tight but a wonderful tight.
Perfect way to start my day! Love this story
Love, love, love, this concept. Respecting the past by repurposing utilizing concepts of simplicity, minimalistic living, embracing winks of nature and nurture. Impressive design. There is hope.
Great story, and a wonderful family. Clearly he has been put through some personal challenges but he has found a way to work through the issues and provide a fantastic home for his family. It looks like a great place to live. It is the people that make it home, not the box you live in.

That's proof that we do not need a lot of stuff to live a balanced life...
Love what he did with his airstream design. The best part of this story is that he made a home for himself and his daughter.
Love seeing 70’s airstreams. Nicely done with the remodel!
We have a '74 Excella - only upgrade is new flooring. It still has the original plush paisley upholstery and the very '70’s airstream chandelier.
We have been travelling for a month and a half, and will be exploring Bryce National Park for the first time today. Here are our cats, waiting for their breakfast this morning:
Good job Jordan...You may want to check out the art of Leah Giberson...Her paintings of Airstreams are wonderful. https://www.etsy.com/shop/leahgiberson
Thumbs up to Houzz for using video to showcase a home (excellent quality), and two thumbs up to Jordan for using his vision and creativity to create a wonderful home for him and his daughter. Very inspiring, and this story confirms my faith in humanity.
You are an incredible dad with an incredible home!
Beautiful story...
Such a heartwarming story and what a wonderful remodeling job!
Such a resilient spirit and special love just overflows in this story. The home Jordan has made for himself and his little girl is truly lovely.....
So cool!
Some day that little girl will realize how blessed she is to have a dad like this....
I love that Jordan used this project as a way to lift himself out of a challenging time--very inspiring!
Excellence is always difficult to achieve with mechanical devices . . . but you have, Jordan, for you and your daughter. I wish you and your little one well in your future endeavors.
This is possibly my favorite story on Houzz. I really appreciate the update. I think that if it is just the 2 of them they could live this way for many years.
raulporter: I think the space looks smaller due to the size of the dog. What a cute yet formidable animal.
what a great redo on a classic Airstream, beautiful space for the owner and his daughter . . . . best thing the two of you have a home ! what an outstanding accomplishment !
Great job. Great reporting. TlaurenArt
Really cool project... Great taste and idée génial!!
Jordon, what a wonderful story, adorable daughter and use of a relatively small space, clear of clutter, got to love "everything has a purpose".
Jordan, You have skills, commitment, and vision. Your creativity is waiting to explode. The Airstream is just the beginning (Tiny house on steroids). See your life and your daughters 20, 10, 5, and 1 year from now and work back to tomorrow. Do not question your creative ability. Find an outlet for it.
Simply heartwarming. They are both so lucky to have each other and this wonderful home. Penelope has learned very early on about choices to make and how to live, whatever your circumstances. Brilliant.
what a lovely dad!!
How inspiring you are for others. Thank you for sharing your gift of creativity.
Very creative and a good way to downsize living simply but beautifully!
My hubbie wants an Airstream like Patrick Jane. I miss Patrick Jane. *sigh* franki
beautiful story - thanks for capturing and sharing houzz!
@franki7...I miss Patrick Jane, too. (Now that you mention it, that was an amazing Airstream, wasn't it!)
Thanks for sharing your experience. It is very inspiring for others. What a great Dad!
That's creativity, love it
Jordan and Penelope~ not only is your "home" very special, you have touched the hearts of many with your story~ Many happy days for you 2!! Big hugs~ Cynthia
Its incredibly good :)
I saw this one twice - it reminded me I was first aware of life in a trailer with my parents, my older and younger brothers - it was snug and fun. Very nice place, you should be proud of it, Jordan.
I would have used flooring for the walls too :-), other than that your remodel is awesome
God bless you, and your daughter you have a beautiful home. Keep faith in God.
