Houzz Writer Becky Harris Shares Her Atlanta Porch and Bathroom
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, longtime Houzz writer Becky Harris gives a virtual tour of the screened porch and renovated bathroom at her home in Atlanta. Harris decorated the 12-by-12-foot porch with budget-friendly furniture and colorful artwork by folk artist “Missionary” Mary Proctor.
In the bathroom, which Harris wrote about for Houzz, patterned encaustic cement floor tile, marble countertops and a large chandelier strung with blue beads bring personality and style.

Becky! Your place is so beautiful, thanks for sharing!
I love it all! I also love your articles.
Oh, your porch! A cup of tea and a book are calling.
Thanks for sharing Becky!!!
It's all gorgeous, Becky! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for letting us tour your dreamy spaces, Becky!
Great job on both porch and bathroom! Love how you value history, the original architecture, and sentimentality of your home. It says: “Becky’s house” not “the designer lives in the space”
So nice to see you, Becky! Your place is amazing. I'd love to hang out on your cozy porch.
That porch looks like a great place to relax! Bathroom is wonderful. Anytime a space gets refreshed it’s always so much better!!
Beautiful spaces and fun to listen to!!
French chairs on the porch are lovely. Envious of the screened in nature. Love that you support local artists.
What a lovely surprise! Fabulous.
Thank you for sharing this with us ♡ I really enjoyed :)
I'd like to say that I love how personal your space is. Not driven by trend but embracing memories and practicalities. It shows restraint and taste. IMO!
Thank for sharing becky
Beautiful!!!!!!! All of it!!
Hi, Becky I love your sinks and vanity, this is what I want to do in my bathroom but it will involve taking out the only bath tub in the house . I do have a good size shower and we never take baths ,so should I just go for it ? When we built this house 25 years ago, we only put one sink in the master because my husband and I were never in there at the same time, because of our work schedule, but now we are both retired and that changed everything. Thanks for your beautiful work ,and stay safe😁
Wowwww!!!!! Thanks for this incredible interview and video, Rick! Becky Harris has such incredible taste and is a master of the mix. So impressed with the eclectic vibe that has a unified story and the easy, natural composition; and color combos that make it really pretty overall but when you hone in on details, it’s fiercely unique and interesting! Love love loved it. What great spaces, including the chair rail, light switch and wainscot in the corner she’s sitting in! Bravo.
Thanks for sharing your charming rooms with us Becky. I love the warmth and fun you brought to the porch in the mixed textiles, furnishings, and art with personal meaning. I appreciate how your bathroom tile brings whimsy to the classic space.
Becky, this was so fun to see you "live". You have always stood out from other writers through your humor and grace when commenters become snarky or critical. The detail you provide with the floor plans makes it possible to really visualize the remodel work. Of course you have legions of fans - I'll always be one of them.
Whoo Hoo! So fun to get a glimpse of you and your carefully created spaces. The pleasure you take in considering the homes of others is evident as you describe your own thought process and decision making. Enjoy your time in the spotlight and then come visit us in Maine. :-)
Lots of character and warmth! I love your spaces Becky and thanks for your great advice!
Thank you for sharing your house with us!
Very helpful insights shared in this video. Thank you for sharing your colorful porch and elegant bathroom. Also love your folk art.
Love these spaces. Becky is one of my favs on Houzz!!
Now I see why I like your articles. I have the same taste and I do thrift store finds, garage sales, etc for some pieces. At times I splurge on items and buy new. Also you are not a minimalist.
Great segment and love your porch and bathroom!
Whenever I see one of your articles, I'm like "Becky!!" I appreciate your sense of style. Your home is lovely.
So fun to see you and to have a guided tour through your porch & bathroom. Love it all!
Homes where decisions are made about design based on what the owners love, are homes with wonderful personality! Well done, Becky!
What makes these spaces so great is that you love them! Love where you live and surround yourself with what makes you happy! That’s design!
Such a treat to see you "live!" Your personality shines through!! Love your porch and bathroom...
Hi Becky, I have followed you for a few years now. I enjoy that your posts are about common sense answers to our home dilemmas. What I enjoyed most about the Houzz feed was seeing your porch. It was so inviting and reflected your personality.
I love the porch! Just all of it. I especially love your artwork. My fav thing in your bathroom... the floor tile! Great to see you live! ❤️
I'm a Becky Harris fan. I always enjoy your articles and I enjoyed listening to your interview. I appreciate your "go with what you love" ideology, even if it isn't "on trend". Trends come and go, but our basic personal style remains fairly constant.
I'd like a look at the front of the house and into the ravine.
Hi Becky, So nice to see you and to hear about your own home design. Looks delightful; I love the eclectic seating selections on the porch, so much variety all happily grouped in one space.
I ditto all the above comments. I viewed this late because I wanted to devote my full attention to my favorite Houzz contributor - you sound just like you write!
@Suzanne Gavelle you can't even see the ravine through the jungle at the moment, and after spying a snake in my yard last week, I am not about to set foot out there! I am just starting to phase in a master landscape plan for the whole property (we just started planting phase 1 last week). Right now the phases are baby steps. As a person with a degree landscape architect, the way my property looks at the moment a lot like the cobbler's kids with no shoes.
Becky, I could sit out on your porch all day reading and relaxing or at least until the heat and humidity got to me. Same problem here in Houston. :(
Great video, Becky! So nice to finally "meet" you!
Let’s tour your whole house! Please! Your place is beautiful
I saw Becky Harris, video, and immediately clicked on it. Thank you Becky for writing such wonderful stories and it was so great to see your fantastic personality and cool house on video!
What a welcoming porch! Great way to enjoy the environment around you!
Beautiful! I love the character!
Becky, thank you for sharing your story with us! It’s such a pleasure to see the delight in life celebrated in your home including the acceptance of “surprises” of discovery along the journey.
HI Becky. I loved both your porch and bathroom. This is the first time I saw your bathroom, and I actually did the same on my bathroom mirror as well a while ago. My bathroom cabinets are a darker grey (Benj, Moore Charcoal) and my walls are are oxford grey. I wanted the white walls to brighten up my small bathroom as there is no window. I also rent so I was limited to what I can do. I was unable to do the floors and the counter, and our place was built in 1964. On another note, I absolutely love your art on the porch. I LOVE unique art that tells a story. Thank you for sharing your inspiration!
Beck's the best! This makes me REALLY want to double down and finish my porch remodel. Sigh... My dream is to visit Atlanta and be invited to a 'Becky's Porch Party.' ;)
Hi,
I've been reading your articles for years so it was really great to get a sense of your personal taste. It looks really homely in the British sense of the word. So cozy and relaxed. I love your home.
Love you beautiful porch. Thank you for letting us into your home. I have that same vintage Bauer vase. I'm going to fill it up with hydrangeas today.
Echoing what your other fans have said, I never pass up a Becky Harris story. Now I know that the personality evident in your writing is genuinely you. :<) Your bathroom is wonderful, love the warmth of the wood frame and bench. As for the screened porch...drool. We have a lovely four season sun room, definitely more useable than screen in the low country, but it is no substitute for the quintessential southern screened porch.
Thank you for your good writing, your kind responses and for sharing your home.
Becky is one of my favorite Houzz contributors. Love the porch and bathroom. Very homey!!
I love this, Becky. What an amazing home you have created! We will miss you on Spruce Head Island this summer.
Love the shout out to the history of the house and all the chairs in the porch. So welcoming... not a showcase
Nothing like a screened in porch...so relaxing.
Your spaces are warm, beautiful, and inviting: like you!
If you need a mosquito magnet, I’m available. I think I often get invited over so the guests can enjoy a bug free night, while I get eaten alive :-(.
Hey you forgot to let her say what she would have done differently. But I LOVED THE FLOORS and that marble vanity with the mirror. That blue wood chandelier gave everything such an elegant ambiance. OMG I would so love that look in my house.
Great to meet you, Becky, after reading your articles for years.
Yes
My grandma didn’t need a whip... this poster on the screened in porch is outrageous... hahahaha what nerve. And to think you had this picture posted on this site during Black History month.
My “Gramma Addie” came from Baton Rouge and as soon as I saw the paintings, my childhood memories came running back. She was a strong woman, of amazing character and had a heart of gold. She was like a second Mom, to my Dad, while he was growing and she helped raise me and my cousins. The love she gave us, was extraordinary! God called her home, shortly before the change of the millennium and we miss her, like something terrible! So seeing the painting above the bistro chairs, made my night!
