Peek Inside an Interior Designer’s Stylish Home
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, English interior designer Emma Merry gives a virtual tour of spaces she recently updated inside her classic Tudor home. A hardworking laundry room and mudroom features lots of custom storage, including a dedicated cabinet to store and charge a vacuum cleaner. Merry also installed a heated towel rack — typically found in bathrooms — to help air-dry delicate clothes and bedding. Wood-look tile in a chateau pattern adds style.
In the once-dark entryway, Merry replaced a wall with glass doors to bring in more light and put emphasis on several original solid oak doors with iron hardware. Pullout drawers beneath a staircase add storage for shoes for the family of four. Wallpaper on Merry’s home office ceiling and accenting one of her son’s bedroom walls gives a playful touch to the elegant home.
What a gorgeous home! Every room is magnificent! Can you tell me where I can find the green pendant light in your office and the wonderful bear planter in your sons room? Thank you so much! LOVE EVERYTHING!!!
Love the black chairs. Who makes them?
Thank you for your note, the green pendant is from Bloomingvile and the bear planter is from H&M.
Thank you for sharing your renovation. I am about to buy a house that has so many downlighters and coving in the ceilings downstairs which I hate. It is going to be quite a job to remove them and replaster the ceilings. The floors are oak which I will keep. I t is a small small so want as much light as possible. I didn't quite catch in the video what you did to the ceilings ? Was it white painted wood ?
I’m redesigning my kitchen and hallway and I love the wood look tile flooring you have. Could you tell me where it’s from please?
Hello. Nice article. Are the doors in the hall Crittall?
Thank you, for your messages please see below:
The flooring was LVT from amtico, in dark chocolate.
The ceilings are the original, we added in ornate ceiling roses to some of the bedrooms to put back the original features
Doors in the hallway are aluminium by a company called Aluco.
Some really good ideas. Love the rails to hang coats and dry washing.
Like the ceiling
"Pullout drawers beneath a staircase", what a useful and great idea! Nicely done. Also, the replacement of a wall with glass doors in a narrow hall way, something I thought doing at my home.
Love the drawers under the stairs
Great Questions. Thanks for the condensed and informative video. The house is gorge and the ideas are very useful and appreciated!
