Tips and Considerations for Floor-to-Ceiling Windows

These large expanses of glass bring more views and natural light into a home than standard-size windows. A recent Houzz poll showed 42% of respondents have floor-to-ceiling windows in their home. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our tall windows!!! But I’ve definitely had a learning curve in southern CO:

•Cleaning = 8 foot + ladders needed to get to upper edges. (In remote areas, you do it yourself...)
•High altitudes = faster fading on furniture & higher house temps (regardless of solar planning). Shades and blinds are a must!
•Global Warming = Central Air = no need for window openings with screens. (We have neighbors who built 20 years ago, and who now need a window unit they’re so hot at night.)

The bonus to floor-to-ceiling windows are the views that make you a part of the outdoors!!
