Tour a Designer’s Glam Home With an Open Floor Plan
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, designer Kirby Foster Hurd gives a virtual tour of her custom home in Oklahoma City. The open-concept living room has a dramatic 12-foot coffered ceiling painted charcoal gray. The adjacent kitchen includes a moody gray island topped with leathered granite. A pair of brass light fixtures above the island add a touch of glam. The dining area has a family-friendly concrete-topped dining table and metal chairs that are easy to wipe down. Other highlights include the master bathroom, which features a freestanding bathtub and an antiqued glass wall mirror, and the home office, with custom built-ins.

- Kitchen Granite: Alaskan White Leathered Granite

- Floors: 6 inch wide white oak wood floors finished on-site with custom stain color
- Mirrors in living room were found locally in Oklahoma City in 2017; the store I bought them at is no longer in existence, I apologize

As far as the paint color being available in South Africa, I am not 100% sure. However, a lot of paint companies do provide color matching. I would ask your local paint store if that is something they provide.

Laura- How exciting! I would be sure to talk to your builder early about the order in which you will be required to make your selections and the estimated time frame associated with those (I always ask for this information in writing so I have it as a good reference point). That will be key so you can stay ahead of these decisions.
When considering the inside of the home, I would recommend you start with plumbing fixtures (or at least know the brand you are going with to communicate that with your builder - he will need to know for plumbing rough in purposes), custom cabinet design (if you are doing prefabricated, you have a bit more time on this selection) and flooring. From there, selections seem to fall into place much easier (you normally have a pretty clear direction you are going in by then). If you have pieces of furniture or decor that you plan to incorporate into the home, use those items to guide you as far as colors and selections are concerned.
