Tour a Designer’s Home Workspace and Get Layout Tips
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, interior designer Juliana Oliveira of Beyond Interior Design takes viewers into her home workspace. Before COVID-19 struck, Oliveira had converted her unused home office to a bedroom for her 8-year-old son. Once she began sheltering at home, she needed to carve out a workspace, and she shares how she did it in this video.
She also gives tips on repurposing a space you might not have considered, such as a wide hallway, nook or closet. Plus, Oliveira provides advice on creating a home workspace that sits lightly in an existing layout, and she offers solutions for what to do about all those electrical cords. She even picked essential home office furniture and other products to get you started on creating a more efficient — and stylish — space.

These are great tips for adding a home office to your space right now. I'm inspired!
Great!
I like all the space ideas, modern, simple, on the spot. One thing I find unrealistic in all designs is the light. Any light that reflects in the screen will cause viewing difficulties, especially on large screens. The room with 3 outdoor windows, even if gorgeous is simply unpractical, if you use both computers, all blinds needs to be down, so is better for both computers to be on same side, so you can enjoy the view while having only half of blinds down.
Love it! Your work looks great Juliana!!
Working on window treatments. Shear or blinds?
Hi Kenand, Roller shades for a modern touch, or sheers to add texture and softness to the room. Lastly, both together is a great option as well.
Thanks Juliana, you've given me some ideas for my existing study that was looking tired
Lovely but maybe impractical. Cord management is okay if the desk is near a plug, not "floating". And what about all those utility bills, tax receipts, etc. And what about printers? Plus you still need a piece of furniture for filing. I agree with sheers or roller shades to cut down on screen glare.
Great start! Would also like to see some ideas on great backdrops for Zoom meetings and serious working offices with 2 screens, printer in function.
I repurposed a 2 drawer office pedestal and used the bottom drawer to store the printer. Removed the side panels and drilled through the back of the drawer to run the usb and plug cable. It was inspired by something I saw on Houzz🙂Works beautifully as you can close the printer drawer when not in use.
Hi Adele, how inspiring and innovative. Anytime the printer can be hidden is a win. Sounds like a great setup.
nice
Beautiful spaces. Love to see more pics of closet work stations, please.
