Tour a London Designer’s Living Room and Get Custom Storage Tips
In this episode of Houzz TV Live, London interior designer Samantha Watkins McRae talks with Kiya Kelly of the Houzz communications team about how custom cabinets (known as bespoke joinery in England) can make your home work harder for you. McRae highlights a bathroom renovation project for which she designed stylish blue-green floor-to-ceiling cabinets that maximize storage capacity.
McRae then takes viewers inside her own London living room, where custom walnut-wrapped wall-hung cabinets provide functional storage without disrupting the beautiful expanse of herringbone-pattern wood floors. She also shares a small hardworking home office she designed for a client.

Great interview and beautiful designs! I particularly love the office space you carved out - what a fantastic use of space.
I’m a big fan of the floating/wall mounted pieces. We did something similar in our master bedroom for the bedside tables. Roomba just swishes right under them!

I really liked the office with open shelving on each side of the living and kitchen. Open views to everything yet defined as a work space. Great idea!
Love her designs! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! So helpful and STUNNING project photos. Interesting as I'd never considered floating storage. I am obsessed with the bathroom vanity too. Thank you Kiya and Samantha!
Super designed project. Love colours and light forms, wooden floors and lights. Congratulations !
