Tour a Miami Designer’s Bold ‘Mom Cave’ and Multiuse Office
In this episode of Houzz TV, interior designer Nicole White brings viewers inside her Miami home. She talks to producer Rick Spence about how she set up a glamorous dining room that also functions as her home office and includes a beverage station for coffee and wine. She also gives a tour of her fun and stylish “mom cave,” a space in which she can be alone, read a good book and feel connected to the women depicted in the vibrant artwork on the walls.

Love the multi space idea .....and love, love, love your Mom cave ! Like to see more on these two ideas in the future ...thank you !
So creative and fun!!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing your personal spaces. Love it
Rick and Houzz team, Another amazing Houzz TV tour of a designer's home! I am enjoying these episodes so much! Great idea, thank you!
Simply beautiful! Love your energy
OMG! What great spaces! Love the concept of multi use dining room. And the art is beautiful.
I love both of these spaces! Your Mom cave makes me want to go redecorate a room with some dark paint.
The rug tho!!!!
Great interview Rick of a great designer! I LOVE the mom's cave idea. Now I want to repurpose a small room and do it too!
absolutely gorgeous!
AMAZING talent! Ty for giving us a glimpse of your world!
Great interview and such a fabulous aesthetic in this room!
I really liked both these spaces. And they were nothing like my aesthetic (a little Scandinavian a little country, so lots of white and a much more minimal in terms of finishing the room - no window coverings for example) - this is a little unusual because it is rare for me to like something so different from what makes me happy - but these are very happy spaces! Also it is nice to see a designer from Miami where I live that does not do all the multi-million all-glass condo with ocean view and glossy shiny over-the-top “Miami” look that I dislike.
Soooo awesome!
This inspires me! Love everything about it. Thank you for sharing.
I love both spaces. Bookshelves and cabinets really anchor a room. I love the blending of wood on the ceiling and walls with the bookshelves in the multipurpose dining room. Also I love the dark color of the “mom cave.”
This is AWESOME! Beautiful way to “re-purpose” the dining room space!!!!
Absolutely a winner!
Wow! I love your style. I love the mixing that all comes together.
Function meets aesthetic...perfect combination.
I just love everything about those two spaces. The black floors are divine. Thank you for the glimpse into your home and your bubbly personality.
Very inspirational! I love the fearlessness of the dark walls in the mom cave! Thank you kindly for sharing!
Nichole - fabulous - thank you for sharing. Who is the Cuban artist please?
I just adore her vibe! Love it.
My hero! 😍
Love your design. That wood on the ceiling is dramatic and simple at the same time. Oh and I could live in your Mom cave!!!
I love, love, love it.
Absolutely love the bold stark contrast of color in the mom cave!
Lovely spaces!! The wood on the wall in the dining/work space and the mom cave - so stylish and glam!!
These rooms are stunning on so many levels and so smart functionally! Love every thoughtful detail. What an exceptionally talented designer, who does not show the typical Miami modern!
I enjoyed this interview. The designer is so down-to-earth and genuine. I absolutely love her spaces and her reasoning behind them. The "mom cave" totally resonates with me. Thank you!!
This is entirely AWESOME--not only for the fantastic design elements, but for her whole outlook. I love the idea of embracing the dining area as a multi-use space for dining, office, storage, etc. And the idea of a mom cave just rang so true with me! Thank you so much for sharing your home. P.S. The wood in the dining room is inspirational!
Loved your home! Beautiful spaces with so much character!
Outstanding!
So, so beautiful , fun and creative, thank you for the inspiration and a designer of color I can follow - truly inspired!
Love it! Great multifunctional kitchen idea I've never thought of. Thank you.
I imagine many of us watching Nicole's interview and seeing her space, wish we lived closer to audition to be on her friend list! I love Nicole's style and her warm personality. I would imagine she does a fantastic job of helping her clients express themselves more clearly and find their way past the decorating comfort zones. Awesome interview!!
Such striking spaces! I have a black wall in my great room and adore it, and now I'm tempted to redo my home office/study with design inspired by her mom cave.
you the best. I love it
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE It! Inspiring! Also refreshing to see a person of color highlighted. BRAVO Houzz!!
Great episode. Love the rooms- inspired me to re-think my dining room.
your home is amazing(gentle effect)
Love the mom cave!!
Your spaces are fabulous. I am also in the process of making my dining room more multi functional.
I would love to know the name of the color used on the walls and ceiling in the "Mom Cave".
Yes! Mom Cave! Imagine that?
Very Cool ! Love it - Inspiring
great work love it
Bold, but comfortable energy. I luv it💙
I love both spaces!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I loved the mom caved. I am not a mom but the room spoke to me. I have a office that I am trying to design. Love the black wall with the art work.
Where did you purchase the pendants in the living room?
What are the pendants over the dining table that you chose?
Love it!
Bravo Nicole! I am envious of this beautiful and functional space! I have seen your work and continued to be inspired! Excellent designer! Miriam White Williams
Nicole, I loved both your spaces - I am currently looking at my space and trying to figure out what can be done with it...would love to talk with you...pbasean@hotmail.com
So enlightening: the topic, the specialist and the format of the article. Thanks.
Love the inspiration in the decor and the interview.
Oh! That reading room! Stunning!
come do my mom cave!!
Just beautiful! Love the spirit of these spaces! Would love to part of her team to work in her work space - and what a great space she made for herself.!! Love the boldness- Inspirational and so inviting!!
Thanks for sharing!
Lovely Space! Such Creativity. Thanks for sharing.
Holy wow! Thank you all for the love fest! Had no idea these rooms would receive so much love. Humbled and thankful. The large pieces of art were purchased in Cuba so I have no contact info. The smaller pieces are by this NY based artist: https://malenebarnett.com/ and the paint color in the mom cave is Limousine Leather by Behr. You can also read full details and find all sources used in both spaces on our blog: https://www.livelaughdecorate.com/2019/11/one-room-challenge-fall-2019-week-6.html
Again, thank you!
I am getting ready to purchase my first home and I have been going back and forth on a formal dining space because it always seemed so formal and under used. I’m so happy to see a functional space and can’t wait to play with the space to make it functional for my family. Thanks for the idea!
Love, love, love!
Your beauty and spirit are so clear in your designs — makes me wish we still lived in Miami. Thank you for sharing your vision: especially the innovative wood treatments, the gorgeous abstract mural, and your vibrant “Mom Cave” art. We’ve chosen similar artistic themes in our new Caribbean home. Brava!
Love NWD, Nicole knows how to help you express your soul in your home!
Love eveything about this and about her! Alas I live in England but if I ever moved to the US.....
Looks good
Gorgeous and inspirational!
I must have watched this interview 20 times! Fantastic interview, and WOW, what a great designer!
Love your Mom's cave
Beautiful space!
LOVED everything about this. Her style, her spaces, her! Everything is so gorgeous.
Not me, but I love it
I think this is an example of what post covid rooms are going to look like. That they are multi use rooms with great showings of the owners personality.
I love how all the "drama queen" is grounded with natural materials. Truly self-aware designer!
Great interview and beautiful rooms- I painted my dining room black several years ago and put gallery shelves on wall to display photos and artwork I’ve collected on our travels. It’s everyone’s favorite place to hang out in. I do need to get a wine fridge though!
That dining room/office combo is so very unique and looks fab! And with COVID-19 having more employees teleworking, to create a space like this vs. moving to a larger home with an office space is more important than ever!
Obsessed with both spaces and the design spirit behind them!
Oh my!! I saved the “mom room” pic a couple of months ago to my Office project in Houzz! It looked so serene and had a very calming spirit to it. Love it! Love it! Love it!
Love the spaces and especially the dining room conversion! Great job💕
Nicole, I LOVE your style and positive vibe!!! Your creativity is warm, inviting and inspiring. Thank you and houzz for sharing!
