Nothing is better than designing a second home; the whole experience is about giving the client a place to enjoy the tactful, sensual pleasure of living on this earth. The sublime surroundings with panoramic views of the Choptank River and Chesapeake Bay framed the design concept for this house. We wanted to capture those views with a seamless flow from the interior to the exterior.

We used simple, vernacular forms to create open porches that spill into the interior living spaces connecting them to the outside, but also protecting them from the (sometimes brutal) elements. Exposed trusses, reclaimed wood and natural stone create an informal atmosphere.
