Massive Main Floor Remodel

What a showstopper. Blues, greys and large-scale wood notes were brought throughout this full main floor renovation.

The front entry opens into the base of our client's amazing new great room space. Starting at this end with a slate-grey fireplace gathering point, the ground floor of this showstopper reno was done end to end.

Eat-around island design
Look at the clever details: side storage cupboards for things that might be used outside; cupboard-mounted electrical sockets; easy extra dish storage above the stove.
An entertaining space-within-a-great-space
Eat in, relax, visit, play board games, work around your guests, oversee homework, stand up at the counter, watch the game... this space is a flexible workhorse. And beautiful, too.

This kitchen is a working delight
This space feels comfortable for two or twenty: enough seating for everyone, a variety of spaces to use, and natural light coming from all sides. The L-shaped island provides enough working space for all the cooks to come to the kitchen.

The white and grey palette has a ton of texture within: circular tile backsplash, recessed panels, the vertical dish rack, and all that gorgeous veining in the countertop stone. Designer: Nicole Muzechka

The heart of the house
The rest of the cabinets are white, but on this facing island bank the design brings in those wood notes from the rest of the remodel. This dark wood on the island brings a solidity to the centrepiece of the space.

Relaxation spaces off the kitchen, with an over-the-shoulder view.
Retreat to the side
We pulled in a darker blue to ground and shape the relaxation/tv area of this ground floor reno. This gathering space at the end of the great room allows family to come together to enjoy media and be part of the main floor action.
The blue notes at the fore
This family space is an invitation to sit in style. Nautical tones are brought out in the pillows and painting, grounded by the earthiness of the walls and furniture. A serene gathering place.

Are home offices boring? Not this one. A barn door that echoes the home bar space around the corner, and inset cabinetry and storage -- shouting distance from the great room.

A side hallway off the kitchen leads to the home office en route to the pantry-laundry room.

This office space is immediately off the kitchen: accessible but private. The sliding reclaimed-wood barn door brings an earthy tone to the entry (see earlier photos).

A generous space for necessary work. The laundry room has a folding counter, a soaking sink, and ample hanging space above the machines for those "drip dry" items.

The diagonal placement of the ceramic tile on this bedroom floor brings an unexpected visual element and interest to the space.

A complete bath with everything the guest needs within easy reach, and ample storage.

The whole wall becomes an iconic headboard in this fabulous master bedroom. Note the multiple greys and textures the Kon-strux design team has brought to the accessories and furniture. This lends psychological depth to the space.
Rustic and comfortable: the master bedroom
This fabulous reclaimed barn wood feature wall is echoed throughout the main floor (the wine wall, the sliding office door). The warmth of wood is unmatched, and is that element of character needed to balance the white and grey palette throughout the main floor.
A good night's sleep is guaranteed
A shared space with places for both: two sinks, two sets of storage. The sunken bath adds a natural break between, opposite the rainhead walk-in shower.

Look at this generous space. Harnessing the long wall to bring fabulous light into the full length, this space is a sanctuary.
