Landing In Tune

Custom new downsized one level retirement home with a roof and windows designed to keep summer sun out and to let the winter sun in. The house is sited on a slight knoll above a small field to provide both medium length views across the field and longer views to the the adjacent foothills.

The western entry drive provides an axial view of the screened porch and house exposing the broad roof overhangs.

The front of the house has a southern exposure, where the screened porch faces west, the main open porch shades the living area from the southern sun. The large overhanging shed roof protects the clerestory windows that fill the interior full of light.

The driveway wraps the house to a rear carport and protected entry. The "backdoor" enters into a mudroom foyer for removing the outdoor gear and clothing layers indicative of mountain living before flowing into the living areas.

Kitchen open to living and dining with clerestory and sink windows facing north to the woods. The kitchen anchors the "rear" of the house where a continuous functional spine extends from the "back door" entry to the right to a doggie wash and laundry area to the left.

The bedroom hallway is utilized as a gallery for the home photography studio. The pocket doors allows for the studio to be closed off for privacy or for reduced clutter.
