My clients wanted to achieve a transitional, serene master bedroom retreat with several layers of lighting and textures, new furnishings as well as custom bedding, throw pillows and easy close, sleek draperies. In order to meet these requirements, I decided to raise the ceiling and create a tray opening with different lighting options, including amongst others, small reading lights on either side of the bed frame for personal task lighting. The ripple fold draperies are recessed into a ceiling alcove on a hidden track for a clean look. Also, I added a variety of textures by paneling the walls with silk inserts, adding antique mirror panels to reflect light, and juxtaposing fabrics and furnishings for a rich look. A custom rug completes the design.
