Private Waterfront Residence on Weems Creek

This 7500 SF Nantucket shingle-style home was created with the idea of bringing family together and is nestled on a three-quarter acre waterfront lot on the Severn tributary. The home has four bedrooms--a first-floor master for the homeowners, a bedroom for each of the grandchildren's parents, and a bunk room for the four grand-kids to share. Apart from the master bedroom, the main floor, with its durable hand-scraped hickory flooring, features an open "gathering room" for relaxing, eating, and cooking. The chef's kitchen, with coffered ceiling, granite countertops, and custom cabinetry (whose Amish craftsmen, who don’t drive themselves, had to be driven to the home-site), is a welcoming spot for the couple, who are both vegan and enjoy preparing most of their meals at home. Three bedrooms and baths can be found on the second floor, which leads by a circular staircase, to a barrel-vaulted boat room made from Douglas fir. The room, is used as the husband's study and is a place to "look at the water and daydream." The lower level living space includes a "romp room," where the kids can make as much of a mess as they want, a game room with exercise equipment and pool table, and a walk-out to the deck with its pool and hot tub.
