Basically a ladder stair which is fine if you are conscious of it. Another option is offset stair treads but they are used mostly, if not always, in areas not generally accessed by the public.

Oh dear I'd fall down on all these stairs. I have trouble even with my stairs at home which are according to construction standards. Why? Because the standards are lousy, not ergonomic. Steps are too high and too narrow. Currently my stairs have one landing and a 90 degree turn, 2/3 of the way up. Not really comfortable nor safe. Making them ergonomic would however take up much more space in the house, or it may require one extra landing and turn.

But it's a complicated matter to change the stairs, as usually their structure is load bearing. Should have thought of this when the house was being built. We thought that by not having a circular staircase it would be easier to climb and safer. It is but not totally.
