Brian Dittmar: using gray and beiges: “make sure that grays are warm grays otherwise it will be too disparate. Behr Evening Hush / One last room that falls somewhere in between moody and calm, this bedroom uses contrast to the highest advantage. By alternating dark and light colors, nothing seems to get sucked in or disappear, which is important when designing dark spaces, especially if they are low on natural light (which this room is not). Notice how the contrasting colors are used in a way that keeps everything crisp and clean.
"Like other neutrals, gray gives you limitless possibilities to introduce other hues. However, don't forget to include different textures and patterns, as well. This will keep the more saturated grays from appearing too drab. Here, a pewter [GRAY WITH A BIT OF BRONZE) wall color is tempered by a host of fun colors and playful patterns." "In kitchens and bathrooms, a COOL gray with slightly blue and green undertones is a smart choice because it carries a sense of cleanness. It still works well with hot colors like vivid red, and it suits the glossy finishes typically found on appliances and fixtures. That it is less stark than black also helps the space feel a little more open, especially when used just on lower cabinets to anchor the space."
