I look for fixtures that are barely visible when they are on - you see the light instead of the source of the light. Wish I could find really deep recessed bulb fixtures with light absorbing interior surfaces.

DreamDoc, have you looked at DMF? The pinhole trim has a matte-black interior that really keeps the ceiling quiet (and use a hex-cell for even better glare control). It's not super-deep, but it is pretty quiet.

David - thank you - I will look indeed. Those hex cells must be made of the same material as printer ink - I have been impressed with their cost for what they are but if a certain desired effect is to be realized they are in the budget. They know this at the lighting manufacturers. I would be happy to be able to get an adjustable depth can (with something like black velvet on the interior would be nice) - there is usually plenty of room above the ceilings in commercial - maybe it is the residential market that drives the fixture design in most cases (short joist/rafter depths). If the demand was there it would be met I suppose.

Thanks again - lighting is everything as you know.
