While this article is somewhat accurate, there is a LOT of misinformation. Quartz is very durable, but just like any countertop material, not indestructible. This makes it sound like people should be wary of quartz countertops, when it is one of the most durable out there! While yes its not recommended to use bleach or harsh chemicals on quartz, it is actually recommended not to use harsh chemicals on any stone countertop. I would know, I work for a granite fabricator! And also, quartz is NOT the cheaper option compared to granite. I have no idea where people are getting this misconception from. Quartz is generally higher in most cases, not the other way around. But, theres always natural stones that are very high too, like marble and quartzites, and some more unique granite colors.

Cambria is another manufacturer of engineered quartz. In the early stages, it was difficult to find a Carrara marble substitute, now it's available!

Ditto Brooklyn O’s comments! I chose Cambria for baths and kitchen even though it was $15 SF more than fancy granite, because of Cambria’s wider selection of colors and patterns, together with its superior durability and much easier maintenance.

It’s beautiful, one of the best choices I’ve ever made!
