Apartment 46 for the Home

Hi Anneleahs, I understand completely. My 1920's bungalow has very few overhead lights. I'm not sure of your design taste/style but one great way to add more lighting without having to use an electrician is to look into plug-in wall sconces. The cords themselves aren't too ugly but if it bothered you, you could buy a cord strip at the hardware store. They cover the cord and can be painted the same color as your wall. I have hung these types of lights next to beds to take clutter off the nightstands, next to sofas to add adjustable reading light, on either side of a mirror to give more direct light...You may also want to look into the bulbs you're using as the wattage and color of the light can make a huge difference. I have all GE LED bulbs in a crystal clear. Bulbs that are warmer tend to have a yellow effect and it's beautiful and ambient but not as bright as the clear. LEDs are going to be your brightest. I hope this helps!

It would help tremendously if these rooms were shown "lit" at night. Most of the photos feature rooms with huge windows with natural light flooding the space from multiple directions...so you can't really tell what's (really) going on with the actual lighting.
