My zone cleanings are great for spring cleaning. If you want more information go to or How Jen Does It.

This approach, doing a bit at a time, is definitely the least stressful. Also remember that, just because your mother did “spring cleaning” every year, doesn’t mean you need to be as thorough as in “the old days”. Parents grew up in the days of wood stoves, not to mention everyone seemed to smoke then, so the walls and ceilings got much dirtier back then and demanded a very good cleaning. Not to say that it shouldn’t be done, just don’t feel guilty if you don’t have time or energy. As my wonderful mother-in-law used to say, “you own your house, it doesn’t own you” (as she cleaned the window cracks with a cloth and a butter knife ).

I organized and cleaned my kitchen utensil and silverware drawers during a commercial break the other day. So much better and only took a few minutes!
