I think these are/were exceptional people. People are exceptional because of who they are, not who they are partnered with. They should be celebrated for that.

Having taught Interior Design for 25 years, many of my students were both gay and lesbian, and were excellent students. Their sense or working with good design principles was notable, and they were extremely hard workers because they knew themselves well enough to know that pursuing a design career was what they were meant to be. I have stayed in touch with some of them over the years, and I always marvel at the things they have accomplished in the Interior Design profession. And they knew they could come and talk with me about their place in life, and that I would listen and give good advice accordingly. Here's to my Gay and Lesbian students!
