I will definitely bookmark this article. My husband also has a progressive disability. We re-did our second floor master bathroom to accommodate his needs, but I can see a future need for a master bedroom/bathroom on our main level. While we have a so/so main level bed/bath now, it could certainly be made much better using the ideas in this article. I just need a good, knowledgable designer/builder! As for the open based sink, it seems like someone could come up with a design that includes a more universal cabinet, etc. that could be "removed" to more easily accommodate a wheelchair. This Maryland couple is very fortunate.

Nice! How about an elevator so the entire house is accessible?

Bookmarked for the future! Very accommodating for the handicap and aged. I really like all the safety bars and that you don't have to walk to get the hand shower when sitting. Thanks for sharing.
