I'm in temporary accomodations for the summer to check out relocation possibilities. I wish I had brought a few more things like decorative pillows to personalize the space, though I've picked up a few decorative objects in my new location and bought a few kitchen items (including a potholder) that were lacking. But it's also been interesting seeing how little I really need.

When we were renovating, we stayed within 5 miles of our home and put our household into storage. We took key items with us, as the article describes, and that planning was very important to our ability to function and live in the space. What I also did was to organize our storage space particularly: items it was inconceivable we would need went farthest back, items it was highly possible we would need to access were right at the storage locker door. Those items we thought we might need to access had an itemized list on the box or, in the case of clothes, were hung on a rack in clothes bags. Trips to storage were quick and highly productive. Our anxiety level was cut in half!

We moved into a temporary apartment 2-3 miles away while we renovate our home. Moved in June 6 and hopefully moving back home first week in October. We brought some old furniture we had and our current sofa to the apartment. We either stored our stuff in storage or our basement. For the kitchen items we only brought what we absolutely need.
