First of all, thanks for this article and ideas! Now I have tips and plenty of time to turn them into realty. I like #11 and #12. It's not "terrifying" in the Halloween meaning of this word, but warm and cozy. Some bright accents look great. My porch is here. Pumpkins are missing, I will add them soon. I want to buy different shapes and sizes.

Our mantle with pumpkins/squash and a garland of felt acorns and leaves in fall colors (hard to see the garland against the rocks in this photo).

Lucky for us, our living room wall is a nice burnt orange color, so Halloween decorations are always complemented! The bats are made of black felt with black pipe cleaners for shape and red “jewels” for eyes that occasionally catch the light. And creepy cloth with a few pumpkin lights go a long way to making a spooky mantle.
