opening small space extras
Rather than using the extra space to create a bigger bedroom, she instead chopped into the bathroom, but pulled the bedroom door back a little bit (as you can see in the bottom right hand corner of the floorplan, above), she allowed space for a dinky laundry room. See the whole redesign in this tour of the flat.
Break it up with glassThe obvious place for a shower in a small wetroom or bathroom is often in a corner at one end of the space. However, thanks to the ‘division’ in this wet room being made of glass, in the form of the shower screen, it still has all the benefits of a room that has been opened up.Without this smart positioning of the standalone shower, sure the room would have had more floor space not used up for washing in, but you’d have either had to have an overbath shower, or sacrifice either bath or shower. This solution makes the layout work, partly by blocking off the shower from the loo, but still allows room for both.
