Is there an article on matching vs. contrasting backsplashes? Normally I like contrast and the "color-blocking" effect, but it seems that matching the countertop (using slabs or tile) makes the room feel more spacious. I prefer the backsplash to be all one color (save natural variations in stone) and thus provide a backdrop rather than be the focal point; but either a matching or complementary color could serve this purpose.
