Bathroom Trends: Floating Vanities
I came across three different floating vanities this week. First in the interview with ZeroEnergy Design. Second when interviewing a custom furniture designer on another blog. Third, in Decor Demon's minimalism ideabook yesterday. Three times in three days. I can't ignore the signs: It's officially time to give floating vanities their due.

This bathroom shows the biggest pro column aspect of floating vanities: The floor seems to extend forever. This clever designer also used the same flooring and clear glass doors in the shower area to extend it even further.
When the vanity matches the wall like this, it just looks like a natural extension of that wall.
This doesn't look very vanity-ish. In a good way. The grains in the wood grabs one's attention.
For those of you who were starting to write off floating vanities because you need a lot of storage, stop! Many of them have very ample storage capacity, like this one.

If you buy your toiletries in bulk at Costco, this is NOT the vanity for you! It is pretty sexy though.
There is a wide variety of colors and styles available today, and with a good custom cabinetmaker, the possibilities are endless.
Keeping this vanity up high makes this bathroom look much wider.
This is a really dramatic before and after. I cannot believe how much bigger the bathroom looks due to the mirrored wall, the white, and getting the vanity off the floor!

If your vanity is long like this, it's a great opportunity to create a horizontal band as this one does.

Michael - Here's an example of a well done floating vanity that is one long vanity with 2 separate mirrors... The designer used a unique floating shelf to connect the mirrors and add functional storage... Mandi @ Dura
