TRY SCHERRS / doors, fronts, etc. with IKEA's AKURUM and SEKTION. IKEA doors need bored holes for the European-style concealed hinges. Sherwin Williams' Sayerlack Hydroplus is low in VOC's, low in VHAP's, and is UL Greenguard Gold Certified for low chemical emissions.
Uppers / living space extends to back and front yards: a private shaded back yard and a sunny seating area in the front yard off the kitchen where neighbors can easily mingle with the family. A Japanese bath off the master bedroom upstairs overlooks a private roof deck which is screened from neighbors’ views by a trellis with plants growing from planter boxes and with lanterns hanging from a trellis above.
Lerhyttan glass doors // the island is Lerhyttan Black-Brown doors and drawer fronts. I think the cabinet style goes well with Axstad White. Re the Axstad grey, it is more or less a medium-dark gray, not a dark charcoal colour.// Ever since islands became popular, the general idea has always been to make the island look bit like a piece of 'furniture," separate from the kitchen cabinets, so doing them in contrasting colours, materials and panel styles has always been the the 'thing.' It's not supposed to be a duplicate of the kitchen cabinets.

The one thing that drives me nuts is seeing the white cabinet box through door/drawer gas. If I built boxes I would use black edge banding on boxes. Ikea kitchens spend a few minutes and caulk every cabinet box seams and drawers. Also to make sure you paint or caulk the bottoms of all fillers panels. Why? because even a very minor spill will destroy an Ikea particle or mdf cabinet faster then you could imagine.

If you can avoid using a STARK pure white for the counters, backsplash, wall paint - you will likely not notice OFF-WHITE cabinets. Ikea's Grimslov only comes in OFF-WHITE [ours isn't painted]. Home Reborn: It depends on how much ceiling height you have. The bottom of uppers ideally should be mounted 58" off the finished floor. If you are using 40" wall cabinets on an 8' ceiling, there won't be room for a crown moulding. But most of the older homes that I work in have ceilings 100" or higher, which creates room for a crown moulding.
IKEA boxes - I'm about to start a remodel, would you recommend just using the white frame color on the boxes if I'm planning to put walnut fronts? However, if you want to keep it dark, and also not want to see any white through the reveals of the doors and drawers you can definitely go with the darker IKEA cabinets.
