counter / Grasscrete installed over soil, saves on excavation and gravel. Subsurface depends on water runoff requirements [thick beds of stone to water piping]. Costs 30% higher than traditional concrete pavement. Can eliminate/minimize need for STORM WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM- which may in turn lead to substantial savings. Cast-in-place, monolithic, pervious concrete pavement. 1st tool creates VOIDS with placing of concrete / then pulled from the concrete slab. 2nd - the voids are opened after concrete hardens - Molded Pulp Former. Green product design for parking, and intermittent drainage channels that help prevent erosion.?Grasscrete’s concealed system for grass/cover installed over concrete, to mitigate drainage issues while maintaining structural integrity that allows vehicles on it.
dark gray fiber reinforced natural concrete with acrylic sealed finish to prevent staining...handles on the side for easy transportability and measures W14" x H18".
Existing concrete's pockmarks were filled (from when walls were removed) Smooth first by grinding/ but micro-topping was the solution (a concrete slurry) only 1/16th thick. Color additive is Kailua by Davis Colors. All concrete will have muddling (marble-like effect), and the finish on top can enhance…"I used clear epoxy sealer with satin finish. [more muddling, use gloss finish; for less pronounced, use matte.]"
Costly labor to mix, stain, pour and finish; requires skill and experience to do well. Cracks will always occur so a good control joint pattern is a plus. Drying and hand finishing, grinding, polishing are processes that need to be controlled and take time, especially in a humid climate/curing the pour will be critical. Substrate sub-floor is equally important: solid, stable, capable of supporting the floor without deflecting or settling. Cost of true poured-in-place integral color polished concrete floor can be higher than stone; don't be fooled because it is "just" concrete.
We have created tiles and panels that can give you this look where it was not previously possible. Our product is light weight concrete, and end result is very authentic looking poured in place structure. https://2stone.ca // https://www.yourcityconcrete.com/
Electric power is in prewired conduit above the finished plywood decking, under the rigid insulation / metal roof sandwich for the unobtrusive clean look we were aiming for in this house. The lights are a custom adjustable spot fixture. Those are common concrete masonry units (CMU) with deep troweled joints with a cantilevered poured concrete hearth extension.
walls a sandwich construction: 2" concrete, then 7 inches of Styrofoam, then 5-inch structural layer of concrete with rebar. The concrete panels were cast onsite and lifted into place by a crane. The exterior shows the beautiful wood-grain impressions left by the formwork from casting the concrete. See more about designing with reinforced concrete
Compare the previous photo with this one: Both have large expanses of glass in CMU walls, but this house in Canada uses split-face block in a beige tone instead of smooth-face block in gray. In both cases the mortar is only a hair lighter than the block color, giving both walls fairly monolithic appearances. Nevertheless the differences in appearance between each is certainly strong.
Wall extends outside past the large operable glass wall. Note that the wood and steel structure rests upon this wall, indicating it is used structurally. Most likely the cavities of the wall, or vertical sections of it, are reinforced with steel rebar and grout, which helps make the wall more solid than just the standard the horizontal reinforcing.
Smooth Hardie Panel -a type of fiber cement board siding. It's a rain screen; weatherproofing is done with other products, rather than with the Hardie. - If money is an issue, then stick with Hardie and use Z flashing on all horizontal runs and flat flashing on all vertical runs. The warranty will fail for Hardie if you do a rain screen. With a 1/2 inch reveal the panels will look gorgeous.

Trends are cyclical, which is why we often see the return of shapes and colors from the past; terrazzo is a current case in point. Terrazzo is traditionally made from a blend of marble gravel and lime (though cement is more commonly used today), which is then mixed with a finer gravel and cocciopesto, a material consisting of fragments of brick and tile mixed with lime mortar. To create the desired effect, terrazzo is still laid by hand, and it’s considered artistic and artisanal work, making it expensive. However, there are cheaper materials that imitate the effect, such as Venetian resin flooring, which is less durable, or Venetian tiles or grits, an even cheaper alternative.
