Fay, I occasionally see antique clawfoot tubs (typically around $200) listed on Craigslist and simple print ad publications such as "The Thrifty Nickle", "Show & Tell", etcetera. Regardless of condition, you would surely want to have it re-porcelainized. One of my antique log cabin colleagues in Kentucky personally refinishes his with a product offered at many hardware stores. This would at least provide an option in the event professional restorstion is too expensive or unavailable in your area. Compare to Khohler's similar style tubs and you'll be thrilled with the price.

Warning: they are crazy heavy and made of cast iron, so they can easily break if mishandled, particularly the feet. My friend solders 3/4" copper tubing, using (4) elbow connectors to create a rectangular shaped shower curtain rod.

Hope this helps.

Shalom, Fletcher

Ps. Check out the website of their Bed and Breakfast business for photos, etc http://www.foxridgebedbreakfast.com/home.html . The first cabin was made from an antique stacked log barn. These are essentially log tall log cabins, but without many door/window cutouts like log cabin homes.

For fun, this is a photo of a Kentucky tobacco barn we dissasembled. The logs were black from soot, as a result of smoke used to cure the tobacco. Thankfully, the smell no longer existed and the soot easily removed. It was 21' x 21' x 23' tall and only had the one small door opening.

The siding was used to produce dining room table tops.
