I find so many of the ideas on Houzz quite inspiring but many seem beyond the reach of the ordinary home owner or renter. I have been renting for the past five years, but have made some investments in the garden - one being my own secret garden right in the front yard. The photos aren't great, but hopefully it gives a good sense of the space. I cleared out some overgrown boxwood that completely crowded the walkway and front entrance, creating a quiet sitting space at the front of my home which is still surrounded by mature azaleas and other shrubs. We can sit and enjoy the shade or sun depending on time of day or year and enjoy the perennials that I have planted, the vines growing nicely now over the front porch, and flowers in pots on the stoop. No major investment, but a beautiful spot to relax over a coffee or glass of wine.
