Mint Green Is Fresh Again
Interior designers are rediscovering a taste for this cool hue, in vintage and modern looks alike
A strappy mint green, pale pink and silver Louis Vuitton mule keeps turning up in all my fashion glossies this month. After thinking, "How is anyone supposed to walk in that thing?" my next thought is, "Wow that mint green looks hot!" Who knew? I hadn't given mint green a fashion or home décor thought since the days when I wore a "Frankie Says Relax" T-shirt.
Of course seeing mint green, a color I hardly remembered existed, looking so lovely sent me scouring Houzz to see what designers are doing with cool mint these days. Pairing it with different tones can let it run the range from a new neutral to icy. Here's a range of rooms that are making the most of mint.

A backdrop of mint for raspberry jewel tones is simply luscious.
Mint green can take on an icier tone when paired with silver, chrome or nickel finishes.
With gold and brass, the tone takes on a warmer look.
Dashes of mint within a sea of white make for a cool and refreshing bedroom.
Mint takes on a contemporary look when paired with orange.
The shade used to be seen most often in a vintage bath like this one.
Today it usually has a more contemporary vibe. This mint tone is closer to gray, and it gives a very clean look to the updated rectangular tile.
In this bathroom, mint is downright Zen when contrasted with wood.
It's a smashing choice for a more traditional living room like this one.
A mint kitchen has a touch of 1950s flair but takes on a new traditional look when sea-grass textures and glass cloche pendant lights are added to the mix.
Here a very pale mint becomes a neutral.
