Congratulations on the new house!
This looks like a diamond in the rough - it is oozing potential.
First is to just slow down. The biggest mistake people make is starting to change things without having a vision or direction or a budget.
You do need landscaping at the front of the house, lights for the garage doors, maybe a small pergola over the doors, a nicer sidewalk to the front door and a nice pop of color on that door. A proper driveway finish would be nice as well. I agree with wanting a wider trim on the doors and windows ( maybe reconsider those shutters or get the proper size ). I also like a contrast between the trim and siding.
For the inside definitely remove the rug and do what needs to be done with the floors. Not sure where you are, but a fireplace is nice to have on chilly nights, if you have those. Removing that may not be as easy as you think - the chimney is visible outside and if all that has to be taken down, then you are having to repair the roof as well. It may make more sense ( depending on cost ) to make the 2 sliders to the right of the fireplace much wider.
Get yourself a note book. Make sections for each space/room of the house. Start making a list of what needs to be done in that space - ie paint, new floor, new light, change door, etc etc. When you get to more complicated spots like the front of the house, do a little more work with more detail - find pics of garage doors/colors you may like, drive around your neighborhood and look at the colors of people's homes and see what catches your eye. Pay attention to the little things - walkways, lights, planting beds, trim.
This will give you a way to start sorting through all of this. Then you need to start with what is most important; items that need to be done so you can move in and live there while you figure out and save for the rest.
Take your time and have fun with it!
Good luck!
