I've seen many monochromatic rooms right here on houzz that are much more attractive than the ones chosen for this article. What gives?

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! but the pink seems to slightly overwhelm. the other colors (especially the bright ones) are fine.

I just realized yesterday that I love monochromatic interiors. My bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are either monochromatic or very close. Bedroom is mauve, eggplant and burgundy, bathroom is greige and soft greyed plum, kitchen is blue/grey and soft grey-green. Very relaxing, all three rooms.
