Can anyone point me toward an article about selecting colors for wall to wall carpet that will age well and give options in the decor?

As beautiful as the wall to wall carpeting is in the photos above, there are 3 main reasons to eschew carpeting and to go for hardwood flooring; one is that carpeting off-gasses (carcinogens) and increases indoor air pollution. Two, carpeting holds dirt and germs especially since we are reluctant to take off our shoes when we enter a home, tracking in doggie do, organic material, dried mud etc.. Three; try vacuuming under those side tables, chairs and floor lamps etc..a royal pain. No, I go for the occasional area rug and in floor heating in certain areas. When I go to a hotel, I try to find rooms with wood flooring which is more sanitary.

A lot of articles say hardwood flooring is a better investment but we just installed wool carpeting in all our bedrooms and am so glad we did. We have two babies under two years old and a dog and we love being able to roll comfortably around on the carpet. It is warm and cozy and blocks noise. I hate trying to clean our rooms with hardwood and area carpets. Such a pain!
