Guest Picks: 20 Vintage Scarves Worthy of Your Wall

Stumped as to how to decorate that large slab of empty wall? Consider decorating with textiles. Fabrics, scarves and even napkins can have beautiful patterns and colors worthy of your wall. I personally have always loved the look of framed vintage scarves. One intricate scarf can really be a statement piece, often for a fraction of what similarly sized artwork would cost. Vintage scarves can be sourced online from places like eBay and Etsy and come in every pattern and color imaginable. And prices can range from under $10 to well over $200 so you are sure to find something in your comfort zone!

Love this image by Porter Hovey for the book Heirloom Modern showing just how chic a vintage scarf can look. Although the scarf is decidedly feminine, nothing about this vignette is soft or frilly. The scarf sets off the beautiful, eclectic mix.

Does this scarf look familiar? It’s the same one from the inspiration photo - “Regina” by Hermes - in a different colorway. Love the touches of pink and lavender.

I could see this scarf hanging in a living room over a worn-in tobacco leather chesterfield sofa. Quirky but sophisticated and I love the rich color palette with teeny touches of pink.

Feathers are always a favorite motif and I love the pattern created by them in this scarf against a bright pink border. Would love to see this hung against a geometric gray wallpaper.

Not all scarves are soft and floral. This one by Vera Neumann is very modern in its composition and I think the color palette would lend itself well to a nautical space.

YOWZA! This is so beautiful with its bright jolt of kelly green. I could see it as the centerpiece in a dressing room with all dark wood built-in shelving surrounding it.

Adore the vase motif and various colors of this one. Also has a beautiful chinoiserie feeling to it. I could see it as a focal point in a powder room.

This mustard-toned geometric would look great hanging above a mid-century modern sofa. Perhaps flanked with some cool swing-arm lamps.

I would frame this in a sweet, neutral baby boy’s nursery. It would be simply precious with an off-white crib and soft neutral bedding.

For the bold, this scarf would look awesome against a bright pink wall framed with a glossy black frame.

Really cool colors in this one…neon and neutral - very trendy.

Nothing is more chic than a classic black and white polka-dot. Would love to see it paired with red - either on the wall or in furniture.
