Domevans, No it is NOT common for children nowadays to share beds in North America. If a bedroom is too small people use bunkbeds to stack up the children. Of course, maybe the boys are twins, if so, then they once shared the smallest bed in the world together their mothers womb. Maybe, that's the reasoning behind the one bed as the room is plenty big enough for 2 twin beds.

In Australia there also is not two in a bed. There are ten in a bed and the little one said, roll over........
