Guest Picks: Scrub-A-Dub-Dub
Fortunately, the washer and dryer found a new home on the opposite side of the wall and I know have a great pantry space where they used to be.
Unfortunately, my laundry room is lacking in so many ways: organization, decor and inspiration. Inspiration? Yes, even washing and folding clothes requires a little inspiration. — Michelle from Stuttering Shell
Once upon a time, I had a caddy that I kept in between my washer and dryer to hold detergent, softener, etc. However, it was cheap and collected a lot of dust and lint. I love the idea of having a caddy with drawers. Out of sight, out of mind — well, at least until it's time to wash the next load.
If my hampers looked like this one, then I would probably get a bit more excited about doing the laundry week after week!
Hang an old-school washboard in your laundry room to keep yourself humble. And, count your blessings that the modern day washer was invented. Can you imagine having to scrub your whites, darks and colors by hand?
If you have the space, then a mobile shelf with a garment rack is the perfect addition to a laundry room. Hang up shirts and slacks and stack folded laundry below. I need one of these!
Buying dryer sheets is expensive. It's also not environmentally friendly. You can make your own dryer sheets (I make my own laundry detergent) or you could just buy a couple Dryerballs.
I hate, hate, hate sorting socks when I fold the laundry. There is always one or two mismatched pairs or a misfit sock. Who knew there were sock handcuffs?
This is like the wooden drying rack you had in college, only better. This is the perfect solution for those of us who would love to air-dry laundry more often, but don't have the space for an outdoor clothesline.
I don't know about you, but I am not a fan of sorting the laundry. Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil. This laundry sorter has four spaces for sorting (most just have three).
If you have the luxury of ample counter space in your laundry room (and if you find yourself washing sweaters), then this is a great gadget. Once upon a time I had a set, until my three cats assumed it was a bunk bed for themselves.
I may not be able to afford a real butler, but a Laundry Butler would be nice! This is just like the ones you see at laundromats — pretty neat!
I make my own laundry detergent, but if there was one detergent all laundry rooms should have, then it would be this one by Method. This is the refill size — genius!
These are similar to Dryerballs, except they're made with wool and are less spiky! The idea is still the same: Save money on fabric softeners and dryer sheets.
If you're limited on space or storage and you have a door to or in your laundry room, then an over-the-door shoe rack works as a place to store some of your smaller laundry essentials, such as dryer sheets, stain removers, etc.
I need 10 of these collapsing laundry baskets. Seriously, laundry baskets are super useful, but they are a pain to store or put away. They're always just in the way, or filled with folded laundry that needs to be put away!
My laundry room has bare walls, but not for long. I love subway art and I love this piece from Etsy. It's a great way to make my laundry room a little bit more fun.
I don't dry clean anything. Really, I don't. This gadget would be super useful for those items I know I shouldn't wash and dry.
If you don't have cabinets or counter space in your laundry room, then this might be the ultimate storage solution for your organizational needs!
I keep a few small storage baskets on my washer and dryer to collect items I find while doing laundry. I also keep a small change jar. Sometimes, doing the laundry really pays!
Any old cabinet (or this fun locker) would work well in a laundry room to store items, such as detergent, bleach and even toilet paper and paper towels.Next: 10 Tidy Laundry Rooms
Currently, my iron and ironing board have taken up residence in the master bedroom. Seriously, the ironing board has become a piece of furniture. If I had this over-the-door item, then I could permanently banish my iron and ironing board to the laundry room.
