I made these glass blown globes for my yard. It uses a mini solar panel to send power to the 12v bulb inside the globe

I have solar lights all over my yard in Virginia and most have done a very good job. The best has been the most expensive, about $30 - from Amazon with the solar panel attached to the actual light by a wire with a light that's in a shaded area. It shines really bright (was worried it would bother the neighbors) and provides very nice uplight for a crepe myrtle. Other lights for around $10 have worked well for 2-3years now so guess I just lucked out.
